Download Full Geoscientist DescriptionThe Geoscientist provides expert evaluations, recommendations, and advice with regard to subsurface geology to the BCER, industry and external agencies. On behalf of the BCER, the incumbent undertakes or oversees those activities that fall under the definition of the “practice of professional geoscience” as defined in the Engineers and Geoscientist Act. The Geoscientist works within a small team of expert professionals to provide analysis and evaluations regarding the development, management and assessment of British Columbia’s subsurface energy resource activities. The incumbent provides expert guidance/interpretations to stakeholders regarding oil and gas pool delineation and mapping, regulatory requirements on oil and gas well data gathering requirements, and related sub surface matters.
Salary:
OGC 2: $63,889 - $72,908
OGC 3: $75,460 - $86,592
OGC 4: $89,623 - $102,844
An additional 27% Job Family Market Multiplier will be added to the posted salary.
Note: Candidates will be placed in the OGC Classification Level as established, through job evaluation of a specific set of duties and responsibilities assigned to a position and based on the combined education and experience of the candidate.
